Beijing’s Newest Playground Has Us Tickled Pink

Recently, news broke of a brand new playground set to open in Beijing that’ll make even Regina George and The Plastics pink with envy.
Located in Five Cats Recreation Mall, an entire section of the building got a complete pink makeover. We’re talking eight stories painted entirely in pink! Why pink, you ask? No reason. It’s pretty, it’s loud, and it’s a color that’s already attracting Beijing’s social media influencers for selfies.
According to one influencer on Douyin, the place brings out his inner Barbie doll. Not only did he have a great time taking photos in the Barbie wonderland but the rooftops are also designed in a Turkish style capable of transporting you to far-off lands, despite the fact that we’re now entering year two of no international travel.
If you’re going there with your heart set on getting some great shots, one netizen recommends either going in the morning around 9-10am or in the afternoon around 3pm to get the best natural sunlight.
Currently, this little piece of pink heaven is completely free all day long during its soft opening phase. For those who drive, parking is also free at the moment, but as with any other mall in Beijing, once it gets busy that won’t be the case anymore. By the looks of their multi-story slides, the space seems to be sold as an outdoor playground for young adults. Unfortunately, however, given that it’s still the middle of winter and they’ve recently just opened, no one is actually allowed to play on the slides yet.
The rest of Five Cats Recreation Mall will be home to KTV, dining, an arcade, and VR games. When it’s open, it’ll be an all-day entertainment for those with older kids…or grownups who just like to have fun.
